The Stratton Quartet plays beautifully, you'll be amazed. Time after time we hear compliments like "you MADE my wedding!" and "You're playing at the reception too? Oh, great!"

Your guests will compliment you on your selections (we'll help you with that if you like) and how they set the mood perfectly!

We won't keep playing to the end of the selection while you're standing at the altar, waiting to get married! We'll find the nearest cadence: the nearest spot we can quit playing that won't sound like a mistake.

We arrive early enough to set up and check on final details, and we usually keep playing until your guests are all out of the church.

We can work with your vocal or instrumental soloist(s), if they are professional musicians. Or if your special friend, relative or guest will be providing music, we might be able to accompany them. To accompany nonprofessional musicians we might want to add a half hour rehearsal before the prelude starts: for that there would probably be an additional charge.

We can find your favorite song (if we don't already have it) and play it off the piano sheet music, or arrange it for string quartet. There might be an extra charge for that, if the arrangement takes a lot of time and effort. Check with us: we have a LOT of music!

You won't know if we have your date available until you call us and ask! Many people start planning a year early. Then again, if you're getting married in two weeks and just remembered you want a string quartet, you might luck out! Give us a call.     Contact Us

We are very happy to play as background music for gatherings of all sorts of happy occasions. Our music adds a flavor of festivity, without overpowering. We can play near the punchbowl (or wine) as people walk past us, or we can play off in a corner somewhere, or center stage.

We are reluctant to play outdoors. There are many complications, and we'd encourage you to rethink an outdoor wedding.

Indoors, we need a moderate temperature, and good strong reading light over a fairly large area. We have a lamp or stand lights which we can bring, but in that case we will need a working electrical outlet nearby. We need about ten feet by ten feet square, and we ask that you provide four chairs with no arms, preferably with flat seats. We generally bring our own music stands.

If you're having more than 100 guests, or if your friends are exceptionally enthusiastic talkers and laughers, we might need amplification in order for everyone to be able to hear us. We don't travel with amps or microphones. Ask if your reception facility will set something up for you. A microphone or two, and the overhead PA system, often works pretty well.     Contact Us

We enjoy sharing our excitement about classical music with people of all age ranges and from all walks of life. We're happy to go into schools, senior centers, community centers, or to mini-classes. We create programs around themes of your choice. Some ideas might be: classical music's history and composers, or highlighting a time period or one composer, how violins, violas and cellos are alike/different or how they work, how music can portray emotions, how music can calm, excite, or help people learn. Programs can be as short as 20 minutes or as long as two hours. Let us know what you're dreaming of, and together we can shape it into reality!     Contact Us

If you'd like us to give a concert, with audience members sitting and listening attentively, we'd love to oblige! After all, performing is a major part of our lives. Call us to discuss your idea. Depending on the music you'd like to hear, we might need to schedule several additional "serious" rehearsals for ourselves. That's the part that gets tricky, because we all have busy schedules.
